In Ayurveda the digestive system is broken into Kapha, Pitta and Vata
If you do not know what that means just stick with me.
Imagine:
Kapha as the logs
Pitta as the fire
Vata as the wind stoking the fire.
Kapha can also be defined as the structure of our body or the quality of food we intake.
Pitta is defined as our metabolism
Vata is defined as the way we take our food and the state of our nervous system.
So, the quality of our campfire (digestive fire) really is based on:
The quality of the food we are eating
Our environment and mood as we intake food
How good our metabolism is
Metabolism can be stoked by:
Walking and working out daily
Starting with a small breakfast, having a large lunch and a smaller dinner.
Only eating when truly hungry and leaving 2 hours AT LEAST in-between meals.
Not eating when the sun is down
Eating at the same time every day.
Eating without distraction in a settled environment
Not eating when overly emotional
Making sure to sip liquids during a meal - Never gulp before or during
Only drink room temp or warm water
Do not wait until you are ravenous to eat
Take time to savor your food
Always sit while eating
Ask your body and listen for when you are about 75% full
